The JESF Foundation, Incorporated and the Dorothy J. Bradford Endowment Fund, offer educational scholarships to college-bound seniors and recurring scholarships to former recipients. These scholarships provide the financial assistance needed so that students may excel academically as well as serve their communities. The Dorothy J. Bradford Endowment Fund
“Guidance is a process of helping individuals achieve self-understanding and self-direction, which can assist them to discover for themselves, their ability and potential to become useful and productive citizens.” – Dorothy J. Bradford.
Established in 2011 to commemorate the life and work of Dorothy J. Bradford, the endowment fund was created to provide educational programs to assist and protect children and their families. Dorothy was a community activist in Markham Illinois, a trustee board member, and president of the Markham library. The library was posthumously named in her honor. She strongly advocated for children in unsafe environments whose life situations impacted their school success.
The collaborative fund supports:
- College students who intend to pursue higher education in school counseling
- Domestic violence prevention
- School counseling chair at Governors State University
- Sustainability of the Bradford Anderson Oglesby Public Library of Markham, IL
The Dorothy J. Bradford Endowment Fund was fully endowed in 2015 and awarded its first scholarship in 2016.
